How we came to be THE COWBOY HOUSE
Stadium Implosion
Stadium Implosion

JUST A COWBOYS FAN

It was April 11th 2010 when I chose the name for my dream sports memorabilia venture.

I woke my daughter Emma up early around 5am so she could witness the Implosion. She was not even 4 years old yet, but knew something monumental was going to happen today. We arrived at the old Cash parking lot of Texas Stadium in Irving and backed the truck up so we could watch the sunrise over the stadium. Surrounded by over 25,000 other fans we witnessed the walls come tumbling down. As the countdown began, Emma asked me, “Daddy why are they blowing up THE COWBOY HOUSE“. At that moment I knew the name of my store had to be THE COWBOY HOUSE.

You see, just 8 months earlier I had made a significant decision to do something I had never done before. I wanted to be an entrepreneur and now was the time. I drained my bank accounts and went all in on the purchase of the majority of the physical 80 lb cast iron stadium seats inside of Texas Stadium. I had no idea what was going to happen next. As the winning bidder for the City of Irving “Farewell Texas Stadium Auction” I began harvesting inventory for my new store. Stadium seats, authentic turf, locker room plates, locker room signs, concessions signs, stadium parking signage, yard line markers and more….If it was a Memory of the old stadium, I wanted to share it with those just like me…. People have asked about my favorite memories of Texas Stadium.
  • The building known for the giant hole in its roof — “…so God can watch his team,” says Former player DD Lewis when I met him at an autograph session as a kid
  • Hall of Famers Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman played there, and Emmitt Smith established himself as the NFL’s career rushing leader. Coach Tom Landry set such a high standard that a statue of him was erected outside the building.
  • “Mean” Joe Greene’s memorable commercial in which he throws his Pittsburgh Steelers jersey to a fan who gives him a Coke (“Hey kid, catch”) and the movie “Any Given Sunday.” Billy Graham opened the place with a 10-day Crusade, and country music star Garth Brooks held three nights of sold-out shows during which he flew over the crowd. There also were wrestling events, monster truck shows and motocross races.
  • As an Irving High School graduate I walked across the stage on the 50-yard line for graduation. That Stadium was a huge part of me and my family.

The Cowboy House name comes from my Daughter Emma. She wasn't even 4 years old yet when she asked "Why is The Cowboy House being exploded?" . We purchased approximately 25,000 stadium chairs, game used turf, locker room items, stadium signage and so much more.... we've never looked back.
